Hey there! I’m Mohamed—thanks for stopping by.

Back in 2001, my family and I moved from Africa to Canada. It was a big move, and honestly, a bit overwhelming at first. But over time, Canada became home. It’s where I found new opportunities, faced a few challenges, and eventually reconnected with something that had always fascinated me: aviation.

As a kid, I was that guy always playing with toy airplanes. I didn’t just like planes—I was obsessed with them. That fascination stuck with me through the years. And even though life took a few twists and turns, I somehow always found my way back to the skies—virtually, at least!

My Journey So Far

After finishing high school in 2004, I hit a bit of a roadblock. Due to a mild disability, I wasn’t able to continue with college right away. So, I applied for social assistance and stayed active by volunteering—it helped me stay engaged and productive during that time.

Between 2007 and 2014, I spent a lot of time back in Africa, though I’d return to Canada every year for a few months. In 2014, I came back for good, and by 2015, I was working as a rideshare driver. It gave me the flexibility I needed, both financially and personally.

A couple of years later, I gave college another shot and completed a program in AutoCAD. It was an interesting challenge—lots of technical work—but the cost of the software and the direction didn’t quite feel like me. So I started thinking: what if I could build something online, at my own pace, from home?

Falling in Love with Flight Simulation

That’s when flight simulation entered the picture.

I had no idea you could get so close to the real aviation experience just using your PC and a joystick. It was everything I loved as a kid—now with real-world physics, weather systems, and virtual cockpits. What started as a hobby quickly became something I looked forward to every day.

I started learning more about aircraft systems, flight dynamics, and all the gear that goes with it. It wasn’t just playing a game—it felt like I was training to be a pilot (minus the cost of flying school!).

Sharing what I was learning became a natural next step. I realized there were so many people out there—new sim pilots, casual users, enthusiasts—who were looking for helpful tips, honest reviews, and solid guidance.

That’s why, on December 11, 2020, I launched my first website: Flight Simulator and Accessories. Over time, as the content grew and the vision became clearer, I rebranded it in June 2025 to something that better fit the mission: Flight Sim Essentials.

Why I Built Flight Sim Essentials

Flight Sim Essentials is more than a blog or a review site—it’s where my passion and experience come together to help others get the most out of their flight sim journey.

I know how confusing it can be starting out—so many simulators, hardware options, and add-ons. That’s why I’m here to break it down, keep it real, and make it fun.

My mission is simple:

✅ Help you find the best gear and software for your setup
✅ Share practical advice and beginner-friendly tips
✅ Cut through the noise with clear, honest content
✅ Build a community of flight sim enthusiasts

Whether you’re just starting out or you’re already flying virtual long-hauls across the globe, I hope my site helps make your experience smoother, more immersive, and way more enjoyable.

Shifting to Home-Based Work

In late 2020, I joined Wealthy Affiliate as I started exploring ways to work from home. As much as I appreciated the flexibility of rideshare driving, I wanted something more stable and aligned with my passions. WA gave me the tools and training to build an online business around what I love: aviation and flight simulation.

I also checked out other platforms like Commission Hero, but they weren’t for me—too many upsells and paid ad strategies I wasn’t comfortable with. I preferred a more sustainable route: build helpful content, optimize for search, and create long-term value.

Now, I’m building my online business from home, while still driving on the side. It’s been a journey, but I’m finally doing work that feels fulfilling.

Let’s Connect

Thanks again for visiting. If you’re into flight simulation—whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned pro—you’re in the right place. I’m here to help you take your virtual flying to the next level.

If you’re curious about Wealthy Affiliate and want to build something of your own, feel free to check it out through my link. It helps support the site and lets me keep bringing you great content.

Let’s keep flying—together.

Sincerely,

Mohamed founder of flightsimessentials.com
